The solution

Black Chicken had a massive catalog - we're talking 180 products and 120 collections - but their organic search wasn't pulling its weight. The challenge was getting all that inventory discovered by people actually searching for natural skincare solutions.

We started with monthly keyword research across their entire product range. This wasn't a one-and-done audit - every month we'd dig into what people were searching for and how Black Chicken's products could match those queries. The key was getting granular with their custom Shopify metafields, making sure product descriptions and summaries were optimized not just for the main product pages, but for all the additional content fields they were using.

The real breakthrough came from building a comprehensive topical map around long-tail keywords. Instead of going after broad terms like "face serum," we targeted specific searches like "essential oils cleaner" and "best face-lifting serums." These longer phrases had less competition but much higher purchase intent - exactly what you want for an ecommerce store.

From that topical map, we developed a content strategy that published targeted blog articles every three days. Each post was strategically designed to capture those long-tail searches while linking back to relevant products and collections.
